Contrary to his appearance and moniker, the Archangel is not an angel, nor is "the Archangel" his real name. The characteristics are merely indicators of his stature as leader of the Malkuth Order, a religious group that seeks to comprehend, protect, and interact with the Absolute God. In the wake of the apocalypse known as the Great Heat, the Archangel confronted Dextera in front of the Neuro Tower. He commanded him to bring the Angelic Rifle to the bottom of the tower, where he would await him. The Archangel's true intentions, however, are unknown. The Archangel is cool, collected, and driven by a sense of duty to rescue the world from its distortion. Having been groomed to be the leader of the Malkuth Order since a young age, he takes to his responsibilities naturally and always appears to have everything under control, even when under pressure. His leadership qualities have earned him plenty of respect and trust from his peers, as demonstrated by the dedication of Number 47. However, having been subject to discrimination in the past, the Archangel is reclusive, especially toward people affected by the twisting, as noted by Doctor Angelicus. When the Archangel was young, the Absolute God appeared on Earth, and the Malkuth Order quickly housed it in the Neuro Tower, where it was subject to scrutiny. With the Absolute God came its Consciousness Orbs, large sensory orbs used to relay information, which were found scattered all across the world. Unfortunately, another thing arrived as well: distortions, which began to warp the very fabric of reality. This included people, who clung to their delusions and became oblivious to the distortion around them. While the Archangel was also affected by the twisting, he was not affected in the same way; he gained the ability to see the true distortion of the world and the people around him. As a child, the Archangel suffered mockery for his oddly colored hair and eyes, which were pale and red, respectively. Even his own family was ashamed of him, as both his parents made attempts to hide his abnormalities from the public. Predictably, he responded with shock when Angelicus complimented his eye color sometime after she joined the Malkuth Order. He also had an older sister, who had been vegetablized as a result of the twisting. She was the first case of a human beginning to distort into a Meta-Being, a once-human monster transformed by their own delusions. Helplessly watching her gradual descent became a grueling process the Archangel and his family had to endure. Tragically, her distortion eventually brought about her own end; her and the Archangel's father, in a fit of insanity induced by his own distortions, shot her in the head. The Archangel, who had witnessed the atrocity, fled in a panic, now determined to find the source of the distortions that caused all of the world's suffering. In search of answers, he followed the Consciousness Orbs, which led him to the Neuro Tower and the Absolute God. The murder of his sister, in addition to other strife he endured as a child, drove the Archangel to passionately seek a cure for the world's, and humanity's, distortion. Constantly, his investigations always led back to the Absolute God, who eventually became the subject of his blame for every injustice that plagued the world. Throughout his years as a member of the Malkuth Order, over which he was pronounced leader soon into adulthood, the Archangel's hatred for the Absolute God grew substantially, as the amount of suffering in the world convinced him of its incompetence. His promotion to the head of the Malkuth Order finally gave the Archangel the power to act upon his true intentions: destroy the Absolute God, take its place, and create a new world where none would suffer.
